SUMMARY BIOGRAPHY

Kazuo Adachi, Ph.D. Advisor, TODAI TLO

(He is based in Edmonton, Canada.)

Dr. Adachi joined TODAI TLO as an Advisor in 2008. He has worked for 15 years in the technology transfer organization of the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada. He was the Director of Technology Transfer until March 2009 at TEC Edmonton, a joint venture between the University of Alberta and Edmonton Economic Development Corporation (EEDC). He obtained his B.Sc. in Biology at Chiba University in Japan and Ph.D. in Biochemistry in Canada. Before joining the technology transfer office of the University of Alberta, he had worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 7 years in the Edmonton area. He was Director of Research Administration (Biology) and a Board member at SynPhar Laboratories, a joint venture with Taiho Pharmaceutical of Japan. More recently he was Vice President of Janus Pharmaceuticals, a Kansas-based biomedical company operating in Edmonton. Previous to working in the pharmaceutical industry he was Assistant Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Saskatchewan (Canada). He is a member of the Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM) and the Licensing Executives Society (LES). He has given numerous presentations and lectures internationally on technology transfer-related subjects.
