A professor's invention is like a precious child! Entrusted with this treasure from a professor (like the birth parent), we act as foster parents to nurture the invention until the day when it can leave the nest and venture out into the world.

When I imagine an invention we've cared for succeeding in the future and playing a productive role in the world, I'm almost moved to tears. Is this what it feels like to be a parent? It was only after becoming an Associate here that I understood that feeling.
While trying to learn from my own experience as a difficult child, I will work hard to quickly become an accomplished parent for inventions.
